The Art of Analog Horror: What Makes It Truly Terrifying? (Review/Analysis)
Hi
Most likely due to digital and analog horror and retakes
I thoguht this was a courge the cowrdly dog episode
I think it's important for an Analog Horror to have a good balance of the plot and world building, There is probably a handful of these series that dont have both of these. (*Cough, Urbanspook, Cough*)
this premieres the day after my birthday 👀
The 3 Little pigs ones is 10x more ass
Your wrong it's amazing
shut up bro mandela and smile tapes so goated thats why you born with a stutter cause u know u a capper
One thing that annoys me bout this series is that the creator could make a bwtter looking wolf if they drew him from a slight or full side view since muzzles and snouts look unnatural from a front view.
First, great video overall, you got into really good points about Analog Horror in general, how it's still pretty rough (even today, theres still some that just dont have that much creativity in them, and more so feels like their there to seek out the views.) Second, It'd be much better for people to actively seek some kind of constructive criticism about their own works, seeing what exactly they REALLY need to improve; like story work, breaking a niche thats overused, etc. There's people out there that make series passionately, but they either turn out to be one of the most oversaturated works you can watch, or surprisingly, actually stand out like a beacon of hope. Overall, it's still a shaky foundation that needs something desperately to change the way its going. Otherwise, yes, it will just end up being exactly like creepypastas.
They ruined it with the three little pigs, the whole "according to the story" is unfitting for me
I feel like, the lack of emotion in a face, or the dichotomy between emotion, and an immediate change to none. Is more frightening in nature Then anything uncanny. It’s real. Uncanny after a while, immediately reminds you it isn’t real.
Nice use of super metroid music thrown in there
0:34 “THIS PRISON TO HOLD ME?”
Yes this is an ultrakill reference
I’d have to say that AH isn’t really dying, their just kinda using the same thing over and over but different story’s which makes it a interesting but also boring, some of my favorites are ones that are like actual shows like for example, the pumpkin rabbit or needlemouse
As long as the walten files is alive, analog horror is 🙏
So Martin will have to used the body of genre when it's eating itself
And the man in The suit
I am glad to see you still keeping true to yourself and be critical to the things you have passion for. I cannot say I am the biggest fan of this subgenre, but seeing countless people huff the flatulence of less than stellar and at times downright lazy works makes me not want to head deeper into it. But saying everything is terrible is not the way either, as you have stated. To be critical shows interest and praise, as well as passion and a desire for improvement upon those that make these things. And I do hope more people can see that. Best wishes to you mate, and I hope many creators bring about their utmost passiom with every single scene they show us.
Spikima Movies made a video on the scene in the horror movie "Kairo." He explained pretty well the effect of uncanny valley to viewers and that scene was the perfect example of how uncanny valley should really feel and disturb us. The fact that the term "uncanny valley" has been thrown around and overused so many times just makes it feel like it lost its real meaning and that people will call anything "uncanny valley" now, especially on tiktok lol
I dont think its dying, some people just like anything. Like walten files is very much not scary at all and even goofy and idk if I can call it analog horror as its videos are clearly cartoons when its supposed to be linked to a world and a world isolated in a cartoon isnt scary. And the premise wasnt very scary. Then again, I really hated fnaf.
We need analog HUMOR.
I think the major reason for a bad analog horror series is because of inexperience. Majority of the creators are teens who are making their first venture into film and analog horror is a very easy mode to do so due to how cheap it is to make. I just wish they were more unique and tried to do something more personal. Alot of the scares feel similar even though there are various genres within analog horror like cosmic, religious, occult, liminal, etc, yet the way they scare us is the same. And coming to IPs, I wish they took on more interesting IPs like 'Kairo' (which I'm pretty sure was a major influence on the genre) and 'Signs' rather than superheroes. A major factor in Analog horror is realism and by using superheroes in their stories, I'm immediately taken out. Again, this is just a subgenre on UA-cam, but I really want to see it grow and not be disregarded as just cheap scares.
You'll love gemini home entertainment
In my opinion, I think it should die. At least the bad ones. I remember watching the Walten Files and think "oh god this is so corny" then the rest of the new AH releases also became corny as hell. The only new "analog horror" I think is great is the "No, I'm Not Human" video game. The story is fresh and so is its narrative structure. No cheap jumpscares but it gets you to feel eerie about your surroundings.
No not at all it's going to a period of stagnation but that's pretty common for most horror sub genres. Also bad analog horror is not necessarily A Bad thing. Constructive criticism can help people to improve their skills and make better content. So when you see a bad analog horror instead of leaving a hateful comment. Leave a comment stating the positives and then what the Creator could improve on. The moral of the story is ironically enough we just need to be nicer to each other as a community. I mean come on guys we all love horror that's why we're here. I suppose the scariest thing of all is being nice to your fellow humans
"Bad analog horror isnt a bad thing because it could be made better!" Lol what?
Good day to be a Vita Carnis fan
Walten files gets a pass for the uncanny valley because they really kicked it off (and it’s actually effective
In my opinion, analog horror is alive, but well? defently not. I honestly agree with you, analog horror isnt doing the best but only making more junk. Sure we have SOME gems. Vita carnis new episode, boiled one etc. Hopefully we do get past these rough patches of adobe photoshop face stretcher.
I believe that the fun of watching horror is to be scared and not to first-handedly judge. We have probably already forgotten that and stopped having fun/being scared, that's why it's dying.
Yes! Lots of AH consumers this day can’t enjoy anything atp. They will rip apart every new series that got popular/praise because it outshines their fav series or their own project. The saddest part is, lots of people who are hating someone else’s series are an AH creators too. Instead of being supportive and giving advice from their own experience, they’re trying to bring others down.
Hot take there’s nothing wrong with text to speech.
Honestly I would love to see a horror mod that slowly changes the game to its beta like yhe first 5 nights you sleep the first thing that changes is you can't see in the dark without a torch then after that passive mobs disappear then yhe rest of the mobs disappear and finally the texture pack changes to look like the beta. The most important detail is that there wouldn't be a monster, just the game slowly reverts back to its beta form
I want to say that i genuinely believe it’s ok for people to make a BAD analog horror, or an series that isn’t as high quality as the rest.. i think people should have time to improve their craft because i think every analog horror creator has potential to make good ass shit even if thier first projects aren’t as good. I always hate the times when people harassed different creators just because there content isn’t the best, WE ALL START SOMEWHERE. It’s also ok for people to not like series too, just be polite about it. Constructive criticism is the best thing a content creator has, people need to normalize being polite about something they’ll don’t like or love. If you see someone having an negative opinion, don’t go mad at them for it (unless they’ll genuinely an asshole then tbh just ignore at that point, they’ll not worth it) but that also applies to the other side too. WE ALL NEED TO START BEING NICE TO EACH OTHER MORE. Anyway that’s all I’ll say, sorry for yapping, i just really like analog horror and want to see the fandom and creators improve more and more
I agree with this. If twf was made today, it would get shit on as a rippoff fnaf and get bullied off. And look at where it is now as a community we should help and give advice to others trying to make their own storys
But people should also be honest when something isn’t good instead of endless glazing, because constant glazing leads to no improvement whereas honesty helps a person to improve
@b1zarr3veli agree, i said this in my comment too. Constructive criticism helps so much people and creators should definitely listen to negative reviews unless they’ll are VERY rude about it but even then it might still be worth looking at. Seeing creators improve is the most satisfying thing for me as a fan of analog horror. That’s how i even became subscribed to unknowingly, i didn’t even like man in the suit at first but i wanted to see a chance for improvement and it worked out because in my opinion, his latest episode was pretty good
You are strong and wise and I am very proud of you ! 🙏
PREACHHH! 🙏
I personally think it's stagnating due to its overused trops
Have you heard about Undertale analog horror called under mt.ebott? If you have watched, what do you think about it?
While I've always had the stance of AH videos needing to be believable within their world, I respect things like Return of the Pumpkin Rabbit and Freddy Junior's Origins just taking a full on short film approach. IMO you should either settle with one or the other, cuz if you mix them both too much then you just get the subpar stuff we've been getting.
I don't think Analog Horror is dying, as a genre of media can't actually "die." However, there are a lot of overused tropes that cause severe stagnation to the quality of analog horror.
time to wait for the replies to say "how is your comment older then the video?"
Where can I get siren head and cartoon cat
And then digital horror is basically just the most heinous atrocities being committed
I'm boring, I like the distorted face type of horror. Hahahah
The clock ticks down............ Till peak (Post-video rant about Analog Horror and the Horror Genre on the internet as a whole, maybe even a guide on how to make a good Analog Horror series) Analog Horror is declining slowly, still alive, just not as it used to be. A lot of people also just couple in other parts of internet horror as Analog Horror. What defines Analog Horror is its analog aesthetic, hence why it is called "Analog Horror". Yeah, it may be similar to Found Footage Horror, and you can definitely mix the two, doesn't mean Found Footage Horror itself is innately Analog Horror. From my knowledge, there are three main categories to horror on UA-cam: Analog, ARG/Unknowable, and Found Footage Horror. ARG/Unknowable Horror is horror that forwards a story that isn't restricted to UA-cam, both Found Footage and Analog Horror can fit into the category as well, just look at Marble Hornets. Honestly, the videos that are on my channel are ARG horror, even though I don't find them scary (Enough "self-promoting"). Horror is subjective, you can't simply just call a horror series bad because you don't find it scary. I don't find the Mandela Catalog scary, does that mean it is bad? No, it just means that the horror for Mandela Catalog isn't for me, or I just have become numb to it. If you want to make a good Analog Horror series, don't shy away from the disturbing aspects of it (Of course, don't pull a creepypasta and make the sole horror be shock content). Yes, kids like Analog Horror, yes, they can be a problem, but just because a lot of kids are in a fandom does not make it bad. As long as the kids don't cause issues, and actually add something to the fandom, they are welcome. Many kids are naturally drawn to horror, maybe as an escape, or they just like that stuff, I myself enjoyed a lot of horror as a kid. Originality is another big issue in the Analog Horror community, you can take existing IPs and make them scary if done right, you can piggyback off of existing Analog Horror ideas and make it scary. Take inspiration, but do not copy another person's whole content, make something original out of it, something interesting. Yes, you may not get popular quickly, but who cares, once (Or if) you do, people could genuinely appreciate how original it is. Also, why I am ranting in a comment section, my apologies, but great video, people just have to learn to take opinions (Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as it isn't outwardly mean or demeans another person)
The downloadable Analog Horror that came in my gogurt
How call the song of the background
We at the point where analog horror is slideshow with ton of text
The wolf is apparently supposed to be a werewolf or some kind. It completely missed what makes werewolves scary. I’ll say till the cows come home, league of legends did a werewolf better is less time, 8 years ago
SONIC.EXE IS NOT ANNOYING
I think the children being murdered was first made by fnaf to make it popular
For me, the one trope that just pisses me off most in Analog Horror is just mimics and doppelgangers overall. The Mandela Catalogue is the one that brought that specific kind of horror into the forefront, but MAN, there's a lot of analog horror that deals or reference mimics in some way. Vita Carnis, Basswood County, heck, even great ones like Greylock and Gemini have mimics as a part of them (even though in those last two it's done a lot better than most). Mimics can also come with the spooky face phenomenon attached to them, which is just insult to injury. That's why stuff like The Man In The Suit and Doctor Nowhere's videos feel so refreshing to watch. They actually present you with a threat that's more than just "That thing is trying to look human, uh oh"
